Why is there a title for women when they are single (Miss) and when they are married (Mrs) but for men they are addressed as Mr. despite marital status?
It’s kind of like saying, it is none of your business what the status of a man is but the status of a woman warrants the use of different titles.

This is what ‘Ms’ is for, I suppose. But I hate ‘Ms’.

  10. opiumdenmother said: That is pretty much what it was for. It was because it had to be known that a woman was married and ‘owned’ but a man could pretty much go off and do whatever he wanted in regards to fidelity etc. Another reason marriage is fucking ridiculous.
